The reason I feel like I have a grip on this is my mother-in-law (MIL) was married to a retired Marine veteran, who led the base police force in my town. After 20 years together, she went home one day and he was in a dress. She was horrified. He begged her to stay with him in what he called a "lesbian relationship." She tried for a little while, but just couldn't treat his sudden transformation as anything but madness. He went from being a man's man to having his Adam's apple shaved off, having every hair on his body removed by laser and getting a breast augmentation within a year and if you called him by any name but Wendy, he wouldn't answer. It confused my children (who were 4, 10 and 10 at the time) to the point, I couldn't allow them to spend time with their grandmother at her home. The whole thing was a horror show and when she complained to her liberal women's group, they took his side and were extremely hateful to her about it. He ended up dying alone in his apartment of a heart attack and nobody noticed for three days. The whole thing was just sad really.

In contrast, transgenderism usually retain the same sexual partners they had when they were living in concert with their biological sex and even if they don't, it just makes them gay or bisexual. No, transgenderism is a mental illness. It means you literally see yourself as something or someone you clearly are not. I have to ask, if gender is one a spectrum, why are the only choices male and female in surgical options for transgendered persons? The answer is because gender is not on a spectrum. Only one's mental illness *tells* you it is. Even transgender people who have surgery, like today's case study, don't have measurable improvement with their mental disturbance. We clearly have a societal psychiatric emergency that extends beyond our borders. At least some within "the trans community" are deeply angry, disturbed, and potentially violent people. I believe that they whip themselves and each other into a maelstrom of paranoid hurt feelings and feel entitled to some warped form of justice, which they feel themselves required to carry out. Someone in our psychiatric class needs to propose a means by which to screen and treat. Should the born males be deprived of their testosterone or even get testosterone blockers for instance? This will be very difficult but we have an epidemic of mass killings by this tiny but identifiable sliver of our population. As a Christian retired physician, I believe that these people deserve attempts at care and treatment.
