As Orwell wrote, "To see what is in front of one’s nose needs a constant struggle.”
Thank you, Andy, for being a chronicler of what should already be obvious -- the inherent violence of the progressive hard left and its 'antifascist' stormtroopers.
I guess sometimes we are called to do good things but in conflict with the momentum of our lives. You surely fit this category and we are better off for it.
The BLM-Antifa fiasco resonates with me so I just subscribed.
Between Mar 2020 and late May 2020 I lied in a bed three floors above the mayhem of demonstrating students. BLM was very active. From my bed at UCLA Ronald Reagan hospital I could see the crowds and hear their chants, slogans, and yelling below me as they filled the air with their hateful race-centric views. And my nurses and doctors would have to listen to the vile too. Unknown to those chanting below, we were from Africa, Western and Eastern Europe, Asia and the US. I was in a ward filled with dedicated amazing people who were saving lives daily. Some staff would commute hours daily because there is no better job than saving lives. The dichotomy between the "goodness" of our reality and the "evils" of their hate-fantasies could not have been greater. In May, after a successful heart transplant, I left that island of miracles to live out my life as a beneficiary of goodness. Today, live far outside the evils of BLM and the far-left hate machine. I live a blessed life but know and support anyone willing to battle the hate-fantasies of the far-left.
I applaud your dedication to true journalism. As an observer of both good and bad I must urge you to never take the road of relativism-- a road void of humanity. It is the road most journalists take today-- pushing forward the hate-fantasies of today's far-left.
I can only hope people like you emerge as beacons of a new kind of journalism. So good can triumph over evil. And love over hate. I wish you success in everything you attempt.
There were a few moments in 2020, especially but the Clark County Sheriff and even the Vancouver PD were very effective in containing the issue and it simmered down in 2021.
So glad to find you here. You’re one of the only true journalists left out there. I’m glad to start a paid subscription. Prayers for your safety and continued recovery, brother 🙏
You are the only one who truly understands Antifa. Please keep up your fine work reporting on this evil among us.
Thank you so much, Bill.

Thank you. I attended UCLA for my undergrad, by the way.

Lived in Seattle at the time and it still feels fresh and raw.
Seattle. CHAZ. It cannot be memory-holed.
Excited for your new journey! Proud to support you however I can.

Welcome to Substack. Jon in SF.
Thanks you for your bravery. I’ve been following your work from the other side of the Columbia and are so thankful for what you exposed to the world.
Thank you, Otto. I worry about the bleed over effect to Vancouver from Portland.
But Portland has been changed forever.

Andy, Thank you for your bravery to show exactly what these anarchists do to people.
I've subscribed!

Thank you.
Glad you're here Andy
In a rational world you’d be considered a national hero by everyone but I consider you that so thank you.
Thank you, David.
