Leftist extremists with badges, guns, and the unlimited power of the government behind them.

What could possibly go wrong?

I don't find this man effeminate for crying. I find him fake or delusional (pick one). The reason isn't hard to understand. I happen to know that the "latino community" (whatever TF that is) in general doesn't want organized crime and gangsters in their neighborhoods. I will even say the quiet part out loud. Most of them are also not desirous of trans people in their families, as they usually come from religious backgrounds and are socially conservative. Maybe this guy is ignorant of what the vast majority of hispanics actually think about trans issues, but surely a cop would know that most people would rather not have gangster facilitated sex and drug trafficking in their neighborhood, and the violence that comes with that. It should be intuitive, what planet is he from? What is he apologizing and crying about? Fake.

The "latino community" is whatever the white progressives decide it is from one day to the next. They mos' def do NOT want to hear from any of the "latino community" who are now voting Republican, nor from any legal immigrants who point out that illegals are not only unfairly competing with them for work, but turning their communities into what they came here to escape. In the white liberal mind, the "latino community" is an amorphous mass of brown people who vote Democrat no matter what, and whose problems can be solved with a stern lecture on the value of a good education from Edward James Olmos.

If Chief Bob Day is getting most of his news and information from The Oregonian, that would explain why he is so ignorant.

There seems to be an epidemic of effeminate men crying on TV as of late.

how could he have risen to and KEPT this position of leadership while placing such perverse emphasis on not only ethnicity but on phony, superficial sentimentality? i think it's

the most shocking video so far this attempted-cop-killing week

Portland Police Bureau is precisely that, a city bureau. As in all public bureaucracies, people are promoted up through ranks if they please the right politically favored people and don't make the wrong ones mad. It's not a meritocracy.

Right, except with offices of such high visibility you'd think or hope they would quickly expire and be replaced by merit

Awwwww. Isn't that just SOOOO special? Bravo, Mr. Day. Bravo. You deserve the Oscar. That performance combined seemingly genuine emotion with just the right amount of apparent choked up regret, at what "my Latino community" must be thinking. Sounds like he's an insider into that community, huh folks?

That apparently, they are all just HEARTBROKEN, by golly, that a couple of hooker/pimps got shot, when they tried to run over some federal agents with their vehicle. Oh, the injustice of it all. Good grief.

Just a couple of illegal hooker/pimps, trying to lure your underage girls and boys into "the life" of sex work. Poor Mr. Day, what a horrible injustice that [[his]] "Latino community" was so disrespected by what happened, cuz, like, I guess Day thinks that is what the "Latino community" in Portland is made up of... Hookers and pimps, arranging lotsa fun sex trafficking, with Portland's kids as the luscious bait, rather than decent, hardworking people who don't approve of hookers and pimps.

Forgive me for my sarcasm but seriously. Chief Day is such a fake, phony-baloney. Shut up Day, you horses ASS. No one believes that line of crap. What a complete embarrassment you have turned out to be. Another smug white liberal, waxing sympathetic but basically insulting the entire "Latino community" by what he suggested. That THEY align with those two predators.

Jeez, what a buffoon, what a big dummy, what a tedious numb skull.

“And what he was crying about.”

He was crying because he had to publicly admit the truth. That broke his heart and he couldn’t hold back the tears. A typically Woke white leftist.

He should have said that they knew the connection immediately but the fact that he didn’t speaks to the level of corruption in the Portland PD. I’m glad he finally admitted it but it seems criminal that he did not especially since the lefts rhetoric increased and an officer could have been serious injured by any angry crowd.

I'll cut him some slack. Portland city council is dominated by its "peacock" group, six DSA wackos that make the mayor of NYC look like a Republican. The mayor is a nice enough guy, but the new city charter gives him almost no power at all. I think just about everybody at the PPB is just waiting until they can retire, get their pensions, and move far away.

Expand full comment
Sandra Pinches's avatar

I can understand all that, but people at the upper levels of the PPB hierarchy make a lot of money both while they are working and after they retire. When they get those pensions many of them are relatively young, and they can continue working in other law enforcement jobs either locally or in smaller, more rural communities. We the taxpayers are funding their lifestyles, so I expect them to at least be honest about high profile crimes.

Good grief, what a mealy mouthed double speak bullshit speech from the Police Chief. It epitomizes what has gone wrong over the last few decades. Bending over backwards to tell the truth while apologizing for it is insane. If he had just said "suspects associated with TDA" in the first place it would have been honest and it would not have "disparaged" the "Latino community". They don't like TDA either.

By giving this speech he is admitting that HE knew the suspects were Latino so could not be outed. This kind of lunacy has been repeated over and over again with predictable results.

Truth, Bob, truth without quibbling. Will we ever get there as a species? I very much doubt it.

We just have to dig for those nuggets we find from Andy Ngo and a few others. Thank you, Andy

Hoping this is not true, I was getting a feeling that during that crying jag, the reason behind it was something much more macabre. Could it be that he was required or threatened to wait a day to disclose the truth more than his concern for the Latino community that caused his emotion? In other words, leaders above him made him stay silent so that riotous behavior against ICE would happen. In my mind, it fits the current regime and the Democrat stance on ICE.

This is extremely disturbing. How can we count on blind justice when Portland's chief of police can be so emotional on the job? It's embarrassing and it's a major red flag. This position requires dispassion, not emotional engagement. Is this happening everywhere or is there something in Portland's water?
