The woman is an immigrant from Colombia. The attacker's name sounds Samoan and he looks like he has asian ancestry. How did you infer that the man was "black" and the woman was "white?"

Judges and DAs have got to stop extending unlimited compassion to career criminals and the psychotic homeless. If they don't, they need to be held criminally liable for the actions of the criminals they release who then victimize innocent citizens.
And why in this situation does it matter he is "trans"? It seems like you just want to grift on peoples' bigotries -- or is it your own as well? I don't think the local news is very consistent about noting when criminals are "cis" either. There is no reason to expect that all trans people are angels, anymore than gay people or people with black hair.

If you're so mentally disturbed you feel the urge to assault strangers without provocation, why would the justice system believe the answer is to let the suspect be released to roam the streets freely? Is that compassion and if so, for whom is it compassionate? It's certainly not compassion for the victims, but more importantly, it's not even compassion for the suspect. If he's truly autistic, bipolar and schizophrenic, locking him up in prison won't treat his conditions, help him get his mental illness under control and teach him techniques to fight the urge to assault members of the public, but *not* locking him up isn't compassionate for him or his victims either. Why isn't Congress, the Judiciary or all these taxpayer funded NGO's not finding ways to begin building asylums and designing systems to run them that creates oversight so we aren't exposing the patients/inmates to widespread abuse like America's last foray into mental hospitals? Americans are far too reactionary. We go to extremes when something awful happens and once that blows up in our faces, we go far over to the other extreme to fix it and when *that* doesn't work, we often just throw up our hands and stop trying to fix the problem altogether. There *must* be at least one person in the 10 square miles of Washington, D.C. who's smart enough to find middle ground and use it to design and build a system that works at least 50% of the time. If patients are still violent after that, we'll need a hospital to imprison and continue treatment for those too crazy or willful to change their lives and behaviors until they improve or die. Why is it so hard for the left and the right to understand, design, build and implement this concept? This is why Americans despise their political "leaders." Often, the simplest solution is the best one, but no one seems capable of implementing it. If we can't even solve basic problems in our society, our nation will commit empathetic suicide within the next 20 years and it won't be our national debt or our political civil war that kills it - at all.
Judges and politicians should be made to watch every video showing the violence that they have unleashed on the streets of America and other Western countries (including my own country of Australia).
